Course Overview
Carol Faulkner of Heartwood Creative Woodworking will again create a day of immersive spoon carving and workshop camaraderie. This course is ideal for those new to carving but members with some experience can tackle a more complex design.
The course content covers the following areas:
- Timbers suitable for carving
- Grain direction and why that’s important
- Creating templates for design
- The right tools for the job for different budgets
- Holding options
- Different cutting techniques
- Sharpening and stropping
- Sanding and finishing
- Safety
Materials Provided
A variety of spoon blanks to choose from. Carving gloves and carving tools but members are also encouraged to bring their own. Notes covering course content.
What To Bring
An apron to cover clothing, dust mask, drinks and lunch
Safety
Please wear sturdy covered in footwear, shoes with leather uppers preferred if boots unavailable.
