Course Overview
In this introductory course we chose a project that would enable the participants to practice the skills we wanted to teach.
We searched woodworking sites and magazines looking for inspiration. The project needed to be something useful, inexpensive, doable in 10 hours and a little challenging. We wanted to be able to use this project to teach the use of a range of hand and machine tools. In addition, it needed to be a vehicle for a discussion about the adaption of existing designs for original purposes. Ideally it would demonstrate the use of jigs and a number of construction processes. This Folding Stool project met our criteria in this course last year and we will have the same or similar project for this course.
