Canalpie Timber and Fine Furniture
Workshop Visit on 23rd February, 2002

The Canalpie business operation comprises three main parts -
- the salvage of locally grown timbers (both native and exotic) from the urban environment,
- the milling of salvaged logs into timber for sale to such people as ourselves, and for the use of Canalpie in its joinery and manufacturing works, and
- the manufacture and sale to the public of fine furniture.

Pulling plank of churchyard English Elm off the bandsaw,
just gorgeous!

A scrap of old fence wire provided a graphic demonstration of the hazards involved in cutting urban trees.  Note the rough pattern on the left of the log, where the wire had become lodged in the saw's teeth.

Richard Parsons showed off some of the gems he's saved from the mulchers, explaning how to stack and dry it too.

A Huon Pine display cabinet under construciton in Richard's workshop.
