Workshop Visit on 23rd February, 2002 |
The Canalpie business operation comprises three main parts - - the salvage of locally grown timbers (both native and exotic) from the urban environment, - the milling of salvaged logs into timber for sale to such people as ourselves, and for the use of Canalpie in its joinery and manufacturing works, and - the manufacture and sale to the public of fine furniture. |

A scrap of old fence wire provided a graphic demonstration of the hazards involved in cutting urban trees. Note the rough pattern on the left of the log, where the wire had become lodged in the saw's teeth. |
Richard Parsons showed off some of the gems he's saved from the mulchers, explaning how to stack and dry it too. |
